Odell Beckham Jr. could not hide his emotions while talking about surviving Giants’ cut day

Odell Beckham Jr. shared a candid response when asked about his feelings on being named to the New York Giants' 53-man roster for the 2026 NFL season.

OBJ spent all of the 2025 season on the sidelines, missing half the year with a PED suspension and then waiting until the 2026 preseason for the Giants to give him a prove-it, non-guaranteed camp deal.

He earned his spot on the final 53-man roster to keep his NFL career alive through pure hard work, earning a spot under coach John Harbaugh despite no prior relationship with the coach.

Beckham Jr. spoke to the media after the Giants' final roster was confirmed with him on it, with the WR sharing an emotional response discussing what it means to him and his family.

"I had those tears when I got back to the hotel after figuring out that I am going to be here and that I have an opportunity to rewrite some of the last chapter. Don't know, last year or whatever it is, but I definitely had that moment where it was like, you could let out some of the pain that I feel like I've went through. It was very healing, very emotional, but something I am happy about."

OBJ will join a competent WR room on the Giants, likely featuring as a rotational depth piece behind the likes of Malik Nabers, Darnell Mooney, Malachi Fields, and Darius Slayton.

The 33-year-old WR made it clear that he doesn't know if this season will be his last in the NFL, but if he can have a productive year on the field, he might generate more interest next season.

OBJ is a notable member of the Giants' recent history, playing 59 career games for them between 2014 and 2018. He had 390 receptions for 5,476 receiving yards and 44 touchdowns for the franchise.

That production is no longer feasible for Beckham Jr., but if he can have productive moments as a veteran WR under coach Harbaugh, he could add another year to his NFL career.

His emotions about making the team are justified, as he could only do it on pure skill and effort after the controversies surrounding him in recent years. He earned his redemption, and now has to deliver on it.
