Lions may have found the perfect player to pair with Aidan Hutchinson

Ever since Aidan Hutchinson came on the scene with the Detroit Lions in 2022, he's been nothing but a blockbuster talent. Aside from the season where he was injured for most of the run, he's been steady with numbers and is considered one of the best defensive ends in the league.

Hutchinson, to date, has clocked 176 total tackles and 43 career sacks. But, the Lions have never really been serious about getting him a proper, long-term complement, until now.

During the NFL Draft this year, general manager Brad Holmes got serious about finding something to work with Hutchinson. He nabbed edge rusher Derrick Moore in the second round of the draft with the team's No. 44 selection.

Now, Moore is already impressing. Eric Woodyard of ESPN praises the pick in a feature discussing all of the NFL rookies and how they're performing .

"Although Moore missed a couple weeks of training camp with a minor groin strain, he has caused problems off the edge this preseason," he notes in the piece. "He logged a couple tackles with a sack and a forced fumble in his preseason debut against Washington."

Woodyard adds that "Moore is expected to contribute to Detroit's edge rusher rotation immediately opposite Aidan Hutchinson."

Yes, that is the expectation. But, what's nice is that what the Lions are seeing from Moore when he's healthy is proving that they did the right thing by picking him for their lineup. He could really be the Hutchinson complement for which they've been waiting.
