Young Newcastle United stars hammer Sunderland

The young Newcastle United stars have hammered Sunderland on Saturday.

The United stars of the future having travelled to play at the Academy of Light for an 11am kick-off.

The Mackem lights started flickering when Charlie Robinson put the Newcastle United Under 18s 1-0 up on 31 minutes.

Then it became very dark for the young Mackems when within two minutes of the second half kicking off, Noah Morgan doubled the lead.

It was lights off altogether for the hosts when substitute Theo Benjamin made it three on 82 minutes, only six minutes after coming off the bench.

What a week for the son of former striker Trevor Benjamin, as he has scored three goals against Sunderland in less than a week!

Sunderland hosted Newcastle United in the Under 17s Premier League Cup on Tuesday and United hammered them 4-1.

Theo Benjamin got two in that victory, with Jack Skelton and Jayden Koussou getting the other goals.

Today's league win means it is five victories in six for the Newcastle United Under 18s and having scored 19 goals in the half dozen league games, they are behind only Manchester City in the Premier League North Under 18s table.

Great to see the investment in youth paying off after a decade and a half of Mike Ashley refusing to allow a single penny to be spent unless forced to.

To cap it all, on Friday FOUR Newcastle United young stars were named in the latest England Under 18s squad.
