The Pittsburgh Steelers aren't finished making roster moves as their preseason finale against the Buffalo Bills draws ever closer.

On Tuesday, the Steelers announced the signing of safety Brandon Hill . In a related move, the team released wide receiver Joaquin Davis.

Hill, who played college football at Pittsburgh (2019-2022), was drafted by the Houston Texans in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Hill was waived by the Texans in March 2025 due to a failed physical but re-signed with their practice squad, only to be released one week later.

Hill went on to join the Las Vegas Raiders ' practice squad and had a second stint with the Houston Texans before signing with the Chicago Bears in August 2026. He was unfortunately released a few days later, however, with Pittsburgh serving as his latest NFL opportunity.

It's hard to imagine Hill would see a lot of playing time against the Bills this Thursday, but the young defensive back could very well be competing for a practice squad role in this limited opportunity.
