Former Falcons EDGE signs with Raiders' practice squad

The Atlanta Falcons didn't have any major surprises on their initial 53-man roster for 2026, but one player who was somewhat overlooked on cut day was edge rusher Azeez Ojulari. The former second-round pick out of Georgia signed with the Falcons in March to provide edge depth but failed to make the team.

According to a report from ESPN insider Adam Schefter , Ojulari was one of three players - along with wide receiver Ronnie Bell and guard Evan Neal - to sign with the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad on Thursday.

Ojulari didn't have an exceptional training camp in Atlanta by most accounts, but considering Jalon Walker's season-ending ACL injury and James Pearce Jr.'s eight-game suspension, it was somewhat surprising to see the veteran pass rusher passed over for both the 53-man roster and 16-man practice squad.

The 26-year-old recorded eight sacks as a rookie with the New York Giants in 2021, but he hasn't recorded more than six sacks in season since. Ojulari has recorded 113 tackles (61 solo), 22 sacks and 38 QB hits in 49 games (32 starts) over his five NFL seasons (four with the Giants and one with e Philadelphia Eagles ).

Ojulari will join former Falcons QB Kirk Cousins in Las Vegas. Cousins was just named the starter over Fernando Mendoza. As for the Falcons' practice squad, they've added Zach Harrison, Khalid Kareem and Jammie Robinson to bring the total up to 16 players. Check out Atlanta's full 16-man practice squad below.
