Everton have agreed a deal with Olympique Lyonnais to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles (29), according to Sky Sports News . The Toffees will pay a fee of £4.2m for the former England international, who is entering the final year of his contract with the French club.
The Premier League club had previously attempted to sign Maitland-Niles and have now reached an agreement to bring the versatile player back to the Premier League. The 29-year-old can operate at both full-back and in midfield, providing Everton with additional versatility ahead of the new season. Maitland-Niles joined Lyon permanently in 2023 after initially spending time on loan at the club from Arsenal. He has since made 79 appearances for the French side across all competitions.
Everton take advantage of Lyon's finances
The Merseyside outfit's agreement agreement represents another departure from Lyon this summer as the French club continue to sanction sales after their exit from the UEFA Champions League.
