Oregon hosting pair of 2028 top recruits for season opener

The Oregon Ducks are wasting no time getting involved in the race for the top recruits in the 2028 recruiting class. Visits are already being lined up throughout the season, and the Ducks will have plenty of future talent on the sidelines for the season opener next weekend.

The Ducks locked in two more important visits for the first game of the season. Defensive lineman Kellan Hall, the No. 2 recruit in the 2028 class, and tight end Presley DeLance, the top recruit from Oregon, will both be in attendance at Autzen Stadium on Sept. 5.

Hall has already made a trip to Eugene this offseason and will be back to experience a game atmosphere against a tough opponent. The 6-foot-5, 275-pound pass rusher from Louisville, Kentucky, is a priority target for the Ducks, especially after the program missed on several defensive line targets in the 2027 class. Hall still has room to grow, and he could get bigger and stronger as a force on the interior.

Oklahoma is currently viewed as the favorite and will receive one of his 10 scheduled visits in the fall. However, Oregon has quickly built a rapport with Hall and is a key contender, alongside Kentucky, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame and more. There is still a long way to go in this recruiting process, but his athleticism as a big lineman makes him a highly coveted prospect.

The Ducks did a great job of keeping some of Oregon's top talents in-state in the 2027 cycle , landing commitments from the state's top four recruits. That effort isn't slowing down in the 2028 class, with DeLance, the top recruit in Oregon, taking a visit to Eugene.

The 6-foot-4 tight end from Lake Oswego is the No. 4 player at his position in the class, per 247Sports, after putting together a big spring and summer at different camps and landing several offers. He's quick for his size and can outrun defenders. He had a limited role as a sophomore, making just nine catches for 235 yards and a touchdown, but he is expected to see his role expand as a junior.

DeLance has scheduled eight visits for the fall and will begin his tour in the Pacific Northwest, visiting Oregon on Sept. 5 before making the trip north to visit Washington the next day. DeLance's teammate, edge rusher Josh Christensen , committed to the Ducks earlier in the offseason as part of the 2027 class, so the Ducks do have some support in the locker room.

Hall and DeLance are big targets for the Ducks, but they won't be alone on the sideline for the first game of the season. Multiple 2027 commits will be in attendance, as well as 2028 targets Jayden Bell and Tytan McNeal . It will be critical for the Ducks not only to start the season right with a victory, but to impress the next class of talent as well.
