Cooper Flagg Injury Update
Flagg caught a hard foul from Nesmith, but fortunately, it looks like a relatively minor injury.
I n just the second game of the season for the Dallas Mavericks, former Duke star Cooper Flagg picked off a steal and headed downcourt for an easy basket. However, Indiana's Aaron Nesmith was closing fast on Flagg, and caught up to him at the basket, where he dispatched a hard foul that sent the young Dallas star to the floor, holding his shoulder and grimacing.
Here's the video of the play , which sparked a scrum that got pretty heated.
As it turned out, Flagg left the game and later got an MRI. It looks like he has a mild shoulder sprain, and will probably miss a few games.
Fortunately, it's not all that serious, but he'll join his former Duke roommate Kon Kneuppel on the sidelines. The runner-up to Flagg for last year's Rookie of the Year Award, Knueppel is getting over a hamstring issue. He's expected to return to the court fairly soon.
