The lead-up to this year's Crown Jewel PLE was full of unknowns and speculation, but the event has come and gone without an issue.

For the third year in a row, the company had its world and WWE champions in both the men's and women's divisions fight for the Crown Jewel titles.

In addition to those bouts, we also saw Cody Rhodes battle Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match, and Penta and Je'Von Evans challenged The Vision for the tag titles.

Let's take a look at who the real winners and losers were from Saturday's Crown Jewel event.

WWE sent a smaller crew to Saudi Arabia this year, which meant the announcers were not calling the show live from the arena.

Instead, Michael Cole and Corey Graves called the show remotely from the United States.

While that meant missing out on the atmosphere of the live crowd in Riyadh, it also spared them the long flights and other demands of international travel.

Both Winners and Losers: Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes

Orton and Rhodes were in the opening slot with their Last Man Standing match. The fans in the arena were hyped and chanted for The Viper despite him being the clear villain in this story.

CM Punk and Kevin Owens had a chaotic no-disqualification match on Friday's SmackDown, leaving Orton and Rhodes with a tough act to follow less than 24 hours later.

They fought in the crowd and used weapons just like Punk and Owens, but never quite reached the same level of intensity. Their feud is just as personal, if not more so, making the lack of animosity during the match surprising.

That said, Rhodes and Orton still put on an enjoyable show. The match followed a relatively predictable pattern, but most of what they did looked good.

The biggest difference was the pacing. Orton and Rhodes had stretches where little happened, whereas Punk and Owens barely slowed down. Without that comparison, their match might have stood out more over the weekend.

The physicality picked up as things progressed, and they were given a long time to work, so we did get to see some big spots that elevated the match. The American Nightmare scored the win with a punt kick.

We want to be clear about something: Labeling Rhodes and Orton as both winners and losers has more to do with the timing and booking of everything than their performance.

They delivered an entertaining match, but management did not do their story justice, and having to follow a great showing from Punk and Owens did them no favors.

Winners: Penta, Je'Von Evans and Oba Femi

The only scheduled match with a regularly defended championship at stake saw Austin Theory and Bron Breakker defend the World Tag Team Championships against Penta and Je'Von Evans.

Penta and Evans are not a regular team, but neither were Theory and Breakker before winning the belts, so it felt like this was a perfect illustration of how far the Raw tag team division has fallen.

However, Penta and Evans are both exciting performers, so it wasn't hard for them to put on a decent match against two guys as athletic as Theory and Breakker.

Evans and Breakker were especially entertaining, and this match helped show why they are both future main event stars just waiting for their chance to break out.

Bronson Reed showed up and interfered, but it wasn't enough to put Evans and Penta away. Oba Femi soon arrived and threw Reed off the stage through some equipment.

The distraction allowed Evans and Penta to get the victory and win the tag titles, giving the crowd a feel-good moment and Evans his first title on the main roster. Now, Penta has a tag title and the Money in the Bank briefcase.

Meanwhile, Femi looks like an absolute star in every appearance, and this one was no different. Even without a match, he ended up having one of the most memorable moments on the show.

The Vision may have lost the tag titles, but this opens up much more interesting possibilities for one member of the group.

For the past few months, Breakker has felt like the odd man out in The Vision. He never seems to match the energy of the rest of the group, and it feels like he has been ready to move on for a while.

Losing the tag titles will allow him to either leave The Vision peacefully or wipe out the entire group on his way out.

Management clearly sees him as a future top star, and getting him started on that path is best done sooner rather than later.

With the Royal Rumble just a few months away, WWE has time to build him up into a potential winner by then.

Losers: Fans in the Same Section as the Screaming Fan; Winner: Chelsea Green

Liv Morgan had a chance to win the Women's Crown Jewel Championship for the second time, but Chelsea Green was standing in her way.

The story coming into this bout was that Green was afraid that losing to Morgan would confirm that every mean thing Liv had said to her was true.

Morgan has played a great bully in this feud, and having already won the Crown Jewel title once gave her trash talk some credibility.

During the match, one fan in particular could be heard screaming at the top of their lungs for Morgan. Whoever was seated within 20 rows of that fan probably left the arena with ringing in their ears.

After a competitive back-and-forth match, Green was able to secure the victory and win the Crown Jewel Championship. She looked extremely happy and celebrated with everyone around the ring before she was presented with the massive title belt.

Loser: Chelsea Green; Winner: Tiffany Stratton

As Green was delivering a promo to celebrate her win, Morgan attacked her from behind. Tiffany Stratton showed up and took out Morgan with her briefcase before telling the ref she wanted to cash in.

Green helped fend off Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez, but then Tiffy turned on her and nailed her with the briefcase before telling the ref she was cashing in on Green, not Morgan.

She hit her moonsault and won the WWE Women's Championship, but she also took the Crown Jewel title belt and ring with her.

Stratton returning to being a heel feels like a good decision, but having it happen at the expense of Green's WWE Women's Championship reign. She was just starting to gain some momentum, and now it's over.

The final match on the card saw Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn fight over the men's Crown Jewel Championship.

This was another chapter in a story that WWE has been telling for years. Zayn's relationship with The Bloodline has had its ups and downs, and right now is definitely a down period.

This bout unfolded the same way most of Reigns' matches tend to go. It had a slow, steady pace with bursts of quick offense from both men. They did a lot of selling and tried to make it as dramatic as possible.

Reigns is at the stage in his career where he has done just about everything there is to do, so Zayn came into this bout with so much more to gain.

If The OTC won, this would just be another victory in a long string of forgettable wins. But if Zayn were victorious, he would overcome one of the biggest challenges he has faced in his career.

Unfortunately, WWE went with the safe and predictable option by having Reigns get the win. The show ended with Zayn leaving as The Tribal Chief celebrated a win nobody will remember in six months.
