PREP ROUNDUP: West Morgan sweeps tri-match

Aug. 26—TRINITY — West Morgan picked up two wins in in its home volleyball opener on Tuesday.

The Rebels defeated New Hope 2-0 (25-11, 25-17) and Wilson 2-0 (25-16, 25-17) to improve to 2-1 on the season.

Haniyah Standridge led the way with 16 kills, followed by Raygen Muse who had seven kills, five blocks and three aces. Addison Knowlton added six kills and five aces.

The Rebels will be back in action Thursday at West Point, where they will play the host Warriors and Vinemont in a tri-match

Austin goes 5-1 at Hoover tournament: Austin competed in the Juanita Boddie tournament in Hoover over the weekend and defeated Gardendale, Albertville, Mobile Christian, Ocean Springs and Arab before losing to Hewitt-Trussville.

Maggie Jae Marsh had 93 assists, 39 kills and 37 digs, while Amari Woods had 41 kills and 41 digs. Avery Jane Bailey added 55 digs and Addison Garth had 34 kills.

East Lawrence claims silver bracket championship in Priceville tournament: Macey Austin led the Eagles with 33 kills and 15 digs during the tournament on Saturday.

Averie Hargett added 19 kills, Madison Austin had 17 kills and Chloe Gatlin had 94 assists.

Danville splits with Brewer and Fairview: Danville defeated Brewer 2-0 but lost to Fairview 2-1 in a recent game.

Maci Brannon combined for 12 kills to lead the Hawks in the two games. Katie Beth Hill added 14 assists.

Hartselle wins Central-Florence tournament: Hartselle went 7-0 over the weekend in the Central-Florence tournament, beating Elkmont, Deshler, Belgreen, Lindsay Lane, Madison Academy, Lauderdale County and Wilson.

Falkville finishes 2-2 at Colbert Heights tournament: Falkville defeated Colbert County 2-0 (25-18, 25-18) and Cherokee 2-0 (25-6, 25-11), while losing to Colbert Heights 2-0 (25-20, 25-10) and Phil Campbell 2-1 (24-26, 25-23, 16-14) in the Colbert Heights tournament over the weekend.
