Charlotte Hornets tip off regular season against Brooklyn Nets

Wednesday marks the official beginning of the Charlotte Hornets 2026-2027 season, and you can see the action for free on Channel 9!

The Hornets are taking on the Brooklyn Nets at 7:30 p.m. Tune in to Channel 9 starting at 7 p.m. for an inside look at the team during the Hornets Pregame Show.

Uptown Charlotte will also be buzzing with an official season opener watch party starting Wednesday night. The team is bringing the Honey Bees, Fly Ty and Hornets Hip Hop Crew, and special guests to give out prizes during the game. That starts at 6:30 p.m. at Clutch Kitchen & Pour House on S. Cedar Street.

There's a lot to look forward to as the Hornets eye a return to the playoffs after their surge earlier this year.

Brandon Miller was signed to a massive $209 million extension, and it's a signal that the front office is making him a cornerstone of the franchise. Miller, 23, will be leading the fourth-youngest team in the NBA, with an average age of 25 years and 44 days. That's important because the team has been building for the future after trading LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges in the offseason.

Stick around after the game for Channel 9 Sports' special season preview. And remember, you'll be able to see most of the Hornets games for free this season on Channel 9 or TV64.
