Phenix City 12U All-Stars return home from Little League World Series

PHENIX CITY, Al. ( WRBL ) — The Phenix City 12U All-Stars captivated the community over the past few weeks, and on Monday night, that community turned out in force to welcome the team home.

Hundreds piled into field 8 in Idle Hour Park to celebrate the accomplishments of this little league team, in search of autographs and pictures with the young superstars.

Both players and coaches spoke with WRBL during Monday's celebration. Head coach Case Rasmus said he wasn't surprised by the large turnout, noting that the community had supported the team every step of the way.

"I'm really not surprised," Rasmus said. "The community has been with us this whole trip. They've followed us through social media, emails and text messages, and they've shown up everywhere we've played, from Warner Robins to Pennsylvania."

And the community took one more opportunity to show up for this team on Monday night, celebrating the history made by this team. This year's squad is the first from Phenix City to make it to Williamsport, with the 1999 squad winning the U.S. Championship.
