The Pac-12 had a rough opening week, going 2-6 against a challenging schedule that featured five games against ranked opponents, all on the road. While the conference struggled overall, several teams made significant moves in this week's power rankings.

Colorado State and Oregon State were the biggest risers, while Utah State suffered the biggest fall after an upset loss to Idaho State . With another challenging slate ahead, here are my Pac-12 power rankings heading into Week 2.

Boise State stays at No. 1 in this week's rankings after a narrow 34-27 road loss to a top-10 Oregon team. The Broncos looked the part of a top-25 team but could not pull off the big upset over Oregon. Boise State should come out of the game feeling like it can go 11-0 the rest of the year.

Looking ahead to this week, Boise State hosts Memphis in what will be a pivotal game for both schools' College Football Playoff hopes. Memphis is coming off a Week 0 win against UNLV in Las Vegas. The winner of this game will put itself in prime position for a CFP spot.

San Diego State is coming off a 53-20 win over FCS foe Portland State. The run game was very good against the Vikings, as SDSU had 237 yards on the ground. Questions still remain about quarterback play for the Aztecs this season.

The Aztecs will get their toughest test of their nonconference slate this week with a road game at the Rose Bowl against UCLA . The Bruins are coming off a 45-24 road win against Cal in Week 1 and should present a really good early-season test for SDSU.

The No. 3 spot stays with WSU this week after a 24-10 loss in the Apple Cup in Week 1. The WSU defense proved to be up for the challenge in Week 1 and projects as one of the better defenses in the Pac-12. However, the offensive side of the ball left more questions unanswered than answered after Week 1.

WSU has an away game against K-State in Week 2. This should be another good test for the Cougs against a K-State team that beat FCS Nicholls 71-3 in Week 1. I will be watching to see if the WSU offense looks improved and is able to open up the playbook a little bit more in Week 2.

Jim Mora and the Rams jumped up three spots to No. 4 this week after a 35-13 beatdown of rival Wyoming in Week 1. Coming into the season, there were questions about how good the quarterback play would be for the Rams this year. A lot of the questions were answered with Hauss Hejny throwing for five touchdowns and 214 yards.

Colorado State has a home game against Southern Utah this week before hosting No. 15 BYU in Week 3. If the Rams can take care of business this week, it would set up a massive matchup against BYU in Week 3.

After starting in last place in the offseason power rankings, Oregon State jumps all the way up to No. 5 after a solid Week 1 performance against Houston. The Beavers were able to keep it close against No. 22 Houston and gave themselves a chance to pull off an upset late in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Braden Atkinson looked the part of a top-end Pac-12 quarterback, throwing for 376 yards. If Atkinson can stay consistent, he will give Oregon State a chance to win any game on its schedule.

In Week 2, Oregon State gets the chance to host Texas Tech, which comes into the matchup ranked No. 13. The Beavers come in as heavy underdogs, but the first game of JaMarcus Shephard's tenure in Corvallis should have a good home environment. I will be watching to see if Atkinson can replicate his Week 1 performance and if the Beavers can keep the game competitive at home.

The Bulldogs drop two spots after a rough Week 1 performance against No. 14 USC that saw Fresno State shut out 39-0. Coming into the season, there were a lot of question marks around quarterback play and the offense. Week 1 did very little to address these concerns, and in fact, there are probably even more question marks around the Fresno State offense after Week 1.

Fresno State looks to get back on track this week with a home game against Sacramento State. This week should be a good test for the Fresno State offense. If the offense struggles to sustain drives and score points this week, it may be time to hit the panic button on the offense in Fresno.

Asking Texas State to beat a top-five Texas team on the road in Week 1 was always going to be a tough ask. However, I would have liked to see the Bobcats look a little bit more competitive in Week 1. The game ended 59-7, and Texas State struggled to move the ball on offense and did very little to stop the Texas offense.

G.J. Kinne's team will have to quickly flush the Week 1 result as the Bobcats have a huge rivalry game against UTSA this week. This feels like a game Texas State has to have to keep itself on track for a bowl game this year. I will be watching to see if the Texas State defense can hold up better against UTSA.

The Aggies fall all the way to the bottom of this week's power rankings after an embarrassing loss to FCS opponent Idaho State. Utah State moved the ball well but lost the turnover battle 4-0, plus had an additional three turnovers on fourth-down stops. The loss probably is not as bad for Utah State as it looks on the surface, but there is a lot of work for Bronco Mendenhall and his staff to get the program back on track.

Week 2 certainly does not get easier for the Aggies. Utah State will travel to No. 19 Washington, which is coming off a 24-10 Apple Cup win against WSU. Success for Utah State this week would be cleaning up the penalties and turnovers and keeping the game competitive against the Huskies.
