Spurs' Castle bounces back from migraine-plagued game
The third-year guard was his old self in Monday's win over Utah after he went scoreless against Minnesota on Saturday.
Stephon Castle bounced back from a scoreless outing plagued by a migraine to put together 16 points, five rebounds and four assists in the Spurs' 119-97 win over Utah on Monday night at the Frost Bank Center.
The third-year guard had five rebounds, four assists and a steal in Saturday's 121-111 home victory over Minnesota but missed all four of his shots from the field in 22 minutes while suffering through his first scoreless game since Dec. 29, 2024 of his rookie season and only the third goose egg of his career.
In 26 minutes Monday, Castle was 7 of 16 from the field, including 2 of 7 from 3-point range. He also recorded a block.
Castle called the migraine a "random kind of thing." He didn't get the green light to play from the medical staff until after going through warm-ups.
"I've had a couple in the past, but it wasn't too bad," he said. "In the morning, it was kind of bad, but as I came into the game, it got better."
Castle's fellow guards picked up the slack offensively against the Timberwolves, with Dylan Harper finishing with a career-high 25 points and De'Aaron Fox providing 22.
"We have so many weapons and so many things we know teams can't guard," Castle said. "Whether one guy's having a bad night or a couple guys aren't shooting the ball well, I feel like we have so many wrinkles and so many guys that can just make a play out of nothing."
