The Denver Broncos have kicked off their roster cuts, and a player who just joined the team four days ago has been let go.

The Broncos waived pass rusher Ron Stone Jr., according to multiple reports . Denver had just signed Stone on Tuesday to give them more depth for Friday's preseason finale against the Minnesota Vikings .

"It's added depth that can help take some of the workload off," Denver coach Sean Payton said after the team signed three players ahead of their preseason finale. "It's hard to go into this game and just say, 'Hey, these 40 aren't [playing]'; the stress level then on everyone else kicks up. So it's a challenge whenever you get into this last game, and we'll have a good plan."

Stone is the son of Rob Stone Sr., a two-time Super Bowl champion who was an offensive lineman in the NFL from 1993-2005, spending time with four teams. The elder Stone earned three-time All-Pro nods and two-time Pro Bowl selections during his decorated career.

The younger Stone joined the Broncos after spending this spring with the UFL's Columbus Aviators, totaling 5.5 sacks. Before that, Stone recorded four sacks in nine games with the UFL's Michigan Panthers in 2025. Stone will now hit the NFL's waiver wire. If he clears, Stone could be a candidate to return on Denver's practice squad.
