Chelsea have no January recall clause in deal for winger whose move already looks a disaster

There is no January recall clause in Alejandro Garnacho 's loan to Aston Villa – but that doesn't preclude a return in the winter.

As an Aston Villa fan who covers Chelsea professionally, there are few people better qualified to talk about the Alejandro Garnacho transfer than Matt Law.

The Telegraph journalist has today written a piece summing up the move, which has been a disaster so far. The Blues loaned Garnacho out for the season in a deal which contained "easily achievable" triggers to make it a permanent move.

But so far the winger has picked up just a handful of minutes, and didn't feature at all in any of Villa's last three games.

Garnacho could return to be loaned out again

Law reports that Chelsea and Villa do not have any January recall clause in Garnacho's deal, meaning both sides would have to agree to cut the move short. If he continues to be totally excluded, we can't see why either party would be against that.

The Blues have made it clear they want rid of the former Man U man, and the best way to do that is to get him playing regularly, putting him in the shop window. There are Spanish clubs said to be interested – but none of them will be able to pay very much for the Argentina international.
