49ers activate Demarcus Robinson, place Christian Kirk on Injured Reserve
Another game, another name added to injured reserve. This time it’s Christian Kirk
The San Francisco 49ers have made their roster moves in preparation for their game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. The team announced that they have activated wide receiver Demarcus Robinson. They also removed Robinson's questionable game status for the Raiders.
While there's some help on the way for the wide receivers, the position takes another hit as Christian Kirk has been placed on Injured Reserve. Kirk was already ruled out for Sunday's game after hurting his meniscus during Thursday's practice. The severity of the injury wasn't fully known, but if he's going to the injured reserve book list, that says all you need to know. The 49ers can only bring back so many players from IR so adding yet another name to an already deep list means that's one less player that can come back when they are ready.
To keep on with the wide receiver news, the 49ers also announced that KhaDarel Hodge will be activated from the practice squad for Sunday. Shanahan wasn't sure about this after his press conference Friday, but it seems like the 49ers had little choice with Kirk's IR designation.
With Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel already out, expect to see more of Demarcus Robinson. He was a big target for Brock Purdy in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Rams, so hopefully he can pick right up where he left off. The 49ers certainly need some wide receiver help until they can get some of their weapons back.
