Brewers’ manager Pat Murphy takes shot at Yankees during World Series celebration
The Yankees are living rent free in Pat Murphy's head, right next to the World Series trophy.
The Milwaukee Brewers on the World Series last night wrapping up the greatest season in franchise history. First baseman Jake Bauers was a big part of that season, leading the team in home runs, walks and OPS during the regular season. His numbers took a big dip during the postseason, but as a free agent this winter, he's set to make a lot of money.
Manager Pat Murphy addressed this exact issue during the postgame celebration. Bauers, who secured the final out on a throw from second baseman Brice Turang, gifted the ball to his manager. Spectrum News 1 Wisconsin was streaming the celebration and caught the moment on film. Bauers and Murphy embraced and the manager basically told him not to forget about his real friends when he signs elsewhere for a lot of money.
More specifically, he told him to remember how the Brewers do things when he's on a "horse sh– Yankees team."

"You're gonna be a rich f—er," Muprhy told Bauers. "Just remember when you're on that horse sh– Yankee team and you're all playing for yourselves…. Just remember this is the way we used to do it"
Bauers was out of baseball in 2024, but returned because his family needed health insurance . He played this season on a one-year deal worth $2.7 million. This offseason he should command a multi-year deal worth eight figures a year. Plus benefits.
The Brewers were middle of the pack with a $146 million payroll this season . The Yankees were third at just over $300 million. The Yankees starting first baseman this season was Paul Goldschmidt, who is also a free agent. Goldschmidt hit 18 home runs in 105 games this season. The Mets, who had the highest payroll in baseball this season might also be in the market for Bauers.
Wherever Bauers ends up next season, he'll always have this clip of his old manager telling him exactly what was going to happen.
