Jayden Daniels leaves with elbow injury

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels (elbow, arm) left the Week 2 game on the final play of the second quarter due to a left elbow injury.

Daniels attempted to brace himself from going down, using his left arm, and it gave way, similar to last season against the Seattle Seahawks when he suffered a dislocation. It looked eerily similar to that injury which caused him to be sidelined him five weeks last season.

Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota took over, and he will undoubtedly steer the ship home. While Daniels hasn't yet been officially ruled out, it's all but likely he'll miss the rest of this game, and some additional time. He was carted off, and FOX Sports sideline reporter Tom Rinaldi said he went for X-rays, and he is still there.

Daniels finished with 11 of 17 passing for 96 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions, while running seven times for 69 yards, including the final ill-fated run on his last play of the day.

Why it Matters: With Daniels sidelined, Mariota will take over. That changes things for the Washington offense, and it takes some fantasy appeal away from receivers like Terry McLaurin , Stefon Diggs , etc. There might be more of a run-based offense with Rachaad White and Jacory Croskey-Merritt .
