Jackson Drake defended his North American Championship against EK Prosper as potential future challengers Saquon Shugars and Sean Legacy collided. Lizzy Rain battled Chantel Monroe.

Dusty Classic: The Vanity Project vs. Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno

Last Time in Action: Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes defeated Chazz "Starboy" Hall and Mini Vikingo, and Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno defeated Fraxiom to advance to the semifinals of the Dusty Classic (NXT, October 13).

The Vanity Project went right after Dar, trying to go after his already injured head, including sending him into the same steel steps that broke him open at a live event.

Romeo stepped up and protected The Scottish Supernova by dumping out Baylor onto Smokes. He went to the Picture-in-Picture break as the referee checked on the injured Dar.

Vanity Project continued to isolate Romeo until Dar forced his way into the action, striking hard and fast against Baylor and Smokes.

He caught Baylor in an Armbar that almost forced a submission. After Baylor fought out, Smokes cheap-shot The Scottish Supernova with a Spear to set up a near-fall.

Romeo and Dar locked in Ankle Locks. Vanity Project fought out but accidentally knocked into one another.

As Romeo and Dar set up the finish, they also knocked into one another, setting up Dar for Hit It and Quit It. Romeo broke up the pin attempt.

Dar locked Smokes in the Champagne Superkneebar, but Smokes rolled outside. Myka Lockwood tried to Clothesline Dar, but he ducked it.

Romeo sent Smokes into Baylor on a Hit It and Quit It attempt followed by a High Low Combination to Smokes for the victory.

This was a long, competitive battle that could have gone either way, and NXT went with the more exciting option by giving the win to the underdog team.

With their victory, Romeo and Dar should be the next one ups to face The Vanity Project for the NXT Tag Team Championships regardless of whether they win the Dusty Classic.

However, it feels right for the two to win it all as they have consistently delivered in the ring throughout this tournament, coming as the best team in the company.

They did not click with Baylor and Smokes like Fraxiom, but this was one of the better recent performances from Vanity Project against any team.

It is a shame that the Dusty Classic will not be represented at Halloween Havoc as it is the most effective part of NXT in these last few weeks.

Romeo and Dar def. Smokes and Baylor to advance to the finals of the Dusty Classic.

Dar came in with his head taped up due to recent staples he received after a live event match against The Vanity Project.'

Booker T repeatedly stated that The Scottish Warrior should not be competing with his injury and should have forfeited the tournament.

Vic Joseph announced that the finals of the Dusty Classic would be next week on a Wednesday edition of NXT.

During the match, NXT showed a video where Grayson Waller revealed he was outside Tony D'Angelo's home.

After the match, Tony D told Robert Stone he was heading to his home, threatening to rip Waller's throat out.

Last Time in Action: Lizzy Rain and Chantel Monroe lost in the NXT Women's Championship #1 Contender Battle Royal won by Wren Sinclair (NXT, October 6).

Chantel tried to set the pace against Lizzy, but she quickly found herself overwhelmed by the strikes of The Maiden of Metal.

Lizzy caught her with a Springboard Elbow and a Fisherman Suplex, but Chantel caught her in the ropes with a Hangman Neckbreaker into the commercial break.

A Swinging Neckbreaker into a Running Knee kept Monroe in control out of the break. Lizzy kept Chantel on her toes as she fired back including Machine Gun Chops in the corner and a strong Spinebuster.

Chantel reversed a Backslide into a pin of her own and grabbed the ropes to steal the pinfall.

Lizzy has not done nearly enough in NXT to already be working the veteran role, taking the surprise pin to an obviously inexperienced opponent.

Even if NXT sees big things in Chantel, she was only fine in this match while NXT has yet to capitalize on the popularity and obvious experience edge of The Maiden of Metal.

These two will fight again, and Chantel will need to figure out how to improve her character work and speed in the ring to make this a real feud.

This was the singles debut of Chantel in NXT, and she did not get an entrance.

Booker T called out a lazy pin from Chantel, leading to Vic Joseph repeatedly questioning if Chantel was taking this too lightly.

In a pre-tape, Cruz Montana delivered a warning to Dion Lennox that he would pay for bringing the darkest part of himself out.

Last Time in Action: Saquon Shugars lost to Tristan Angels (NXT, October 13); Sean Legacy alongside EK Prosper and Zilla Fatu lost to BirthRight (NXT, September 22).

Shugars came into this match angry, knocking the camera out of his way. However, the athleticism of Legacy knocked him down early as the match went to an early commercial break.

During the break, Shugars tripped Legacy off the ropes to take over. He kept control back from break by grinding Legacy into the mat.

Legacy struck his way free, landing a strong Superkick to turn the tide. Shugars caught Legacy with an F12 but did not hook both legs, allowing Legacy to get his free leg on the bottom rope.

Legacy landed a Spanish Fly to seal the victory over Shugars, who looked to be in shock afterward.

This was a solid match, though these two are still figuring out their chemistry. This was too often two athletes doing their work rather than a cohesive contest.

Few men have done more with limited time than Legacy, who looks great every time he performs. He is an unreal athlete with impressive body control.

That said, this may have been more about Shugars than Legacy, who heavily played up the idea that he was trying too hard to look cool rather than win.

This ended up costing him the match, which could be the character hook that will help Shugars finally start to put it together in NXT.

While he is one of the most charismatic men in all of NXT, Shugars has yet to figure out what is going to make him a star.

He was a side character in DarkState and did not come out of his DarkState break-up with much hype. Legacy could help Shugars find his focus.

Meanwhile, Shugars could help Legacy establish himself as more than just a fun athlete.

Vic Joseph called Shugars "more flash than substance" due to his focus on playing to the crowd.

Booker T revealed he was focusing even more on pinfall attempts tonight due to William Regal's Tweet from earlier in the month.

In a pre-tape, Izzi Dame explained that she saw through Zaria's facade and exposed a scared girl hiding from who she really is.

Myles Borne and Tavion Heights Find Out They Will Fight in Weapons Wild

Myles Borne and Tavion Heights exchanged final words with security keeping them apart.

Myles said that Tavion was holding him back from his potential while Heights called out Myles as selfish. Both promised to bring their best fight to Halloween Havoc before almost testing security.

Afterward, Danhausen demanded his people spin the Halloween Havoc wheel, revealing the match would be Weapons Wild.

Neither Myles or Tavion are the best promos, but this was heated and focused enough to work.

Both sold why they are a threat to win at Halloween Havoc and what will drive them to succeed.

While NXT is trying to make multiple matches feel heated between Halloween Havoc and next week's NXT, this is clearly the best built feud on paper into the premium live event.

Tony D'Angelo headed home where Grayson Waller called him, telling him he had already left for "the restaurant", so Tony D went back on the hunt.

When D'Angelo found the restaurant, Waller had left him a note to meet "where it all started".

In a pre-tape, Kam Hendrix questioned why he was on the sidelines while EK Prosper was getting a North American Championship match.

Backstage, Robert Stone told Dion Lennox that his match with Cruz Montana next week would be Unsanctioned.

Dusty Classic: The Wagner Brother vs. Hank Walker and Tank Ledger

Last Time in Action: El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno defeated Charlie Dempsey and Lexis King, and Hank Walker and Tank Ledger defeated The Creed Brothers to advance to the semifinals of the Dusty Classic (NXT, October 20).

While Hank and Tank tried to start the pace fast, Wagner and Galeno pushed them to go even faster, utilizing Galeno's size and Wagner's speed to overwhelm the former NXT tag champions.

Into the commercial break, Galeno tossed Wagner onto Hank and Tank on the outside of the ring.

Back from break, Galeno rolled over Hank and Tank Body Slamming them onto one another followed by a Running Splash for two.

Wagner then blasted Hank with a Tope Suicida while Galeno caught Tank with a Running Splash off the apron.

A Galeno Frog Splash on Hank nearly took the victory, but Tank broke up the pin. Both teams met in the center of the ring, and Hank and Tank hit repeating running strikes to lay out Galeno.

Hank caught Wagner with a Boss Man Slam then Hank and Tank hit Galeno with Running Tackles followed by a pair of Diving Splashes for the victory.

This started strong, but the action grew sloppier with time. While The Wagner Brothers were looking to deliver as much action as possible, Hank and Tank struggled to follow.

By the time the dust settled, it did not feel like Hank and Tank had earned the win, and the limited Performance Center crowd did not know how to react.

This is not the way an underdog win should feel, and it seems like NXT might have misjudged how fans would react to this match.

Romeo Moreno and Noam Dar had a strong clear path to the finals, including beating the heel NXT tag champs. It feels like Hank and Tank stumbled to the same spot.

Still, the final is likely to be great given the usual work of both teams in the ring, and both would make sense to emerge the victors since these are explosive teams that could be next up for Vanity Project.

Hank and Tank def. Galeno and Wagner by pinfall to advance to the finals of the Dusty Classic.

During their entrance, The Wagner Brothers found their father Dr. Wagner Jr. in the audience. Cameras caught his reactions throughout.

Booker T questioned how embarrassed The Wagner Brothers would be to lose in front of their father. That question was left open ended after the loss.

NXT showed footage of Kelani Jordan and Iyo Sky arguing on Raw in Adam Pearce's office. Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair then talked in the locker room where Wren promised to win for the WrenQCC.
