As the season changes into fall, we move on into October. October means many things for many different people, but, to a large section of football fans, it is defined as the month the Ballon d'Or is awarded. This year, England captain and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane is rumored to be one of the frontrunners to win the award, which no English player has won in around 25 years. Kane did score 73 goals for club and country combined last season, after all, earning the shout with his ridiculous form.

Asked about his skipper's chances to win the award, England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford supported Kane's claim to the award.

"I think he is right in the mix for it, the standards he has for himself and the goals he has scored are second to none, his all-round character as a lad is a great example to anyone in football to set the standards he does, that's why he gets the rewards," Pickford mused at the press conference ahead of England's clash with Croatia (as captured by @iMiaSanMia ). "I'd love nothing more than to see him lift the Ballon d'Or. I think it would be a credit to him and his family and all the work they have done. It will be great for Harry if he gets it. It could be a great couple of months for the skipper and it's fully deserved. Hard work pays off, that's the message."
