How much will Arion Carter donate to cancer patients after Tennessee-Texas game?

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Tennessee may have lost their matchup against Texas , but there will be a win for cancer patients with Vols linebacker Arion Carter donating nearly $4,700.

With his donation Saturday, Carter will have made more than $12,000 in donations to help people with their cancer treatments in partnership with his mother Sheteka Alexander's nonprofit Girls in Real Life Situations.

Earlier this season, Carter said he would be donating $427 for each tackle he made this season, in response to his one-game suspension from the NCAA over a $427.48 flight purchased for him by an agent before the NFL Draft last year , which he later withdrew from because of an injury. Carter later paid the money for the ticket back.

Along with $427 for each tackle, Carter also pledged to donate:

$1,000 per interception or forced fumble

and $5,000 if he scores a defensive touchdown

During Saturday's game against Texas , Carter had his highest number of tackles for a single game so far this season. For his 11 tackles, Carter pledged to donate $4,697, on top of the $7,332 in pledged donations from Tennessee's matchups against Kennesaw State and Georgia Tech. That brings his total in pledged donations this season to $12,029.

Last season, Carter averaged 7.6 tackles per game despite battling a foot injury. In total, he has made 161 tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery during his time with the Vols.
