Northern State football 2-0 for first time since 2003

ABERDEEN, S.D. (KELO) — It was another solid night at Dacotah Bank Stadium in Aberdeen where the Northern State Wolves moved to 2-0 for the first time in 23 years with a 31-16 win over conference rivals, Winona State.

The Wolves offense continued to run on Kraft, Hank that is as the running back scored two touchdowns in the first quarter. The first, a 92-yard house call and the second a 3-yard receiving one out of the backfield.

The Warriors would make it 21-16 on a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, but Kraft would break a 47-yard touchdown the next time to put this game to bed, before another field goal made it a 15 point game, where it would hold the rest of the way.

Kraft once again was over the 200-yard rushing mark as he carried the ball 22 times for 241 yards and 2 touchdowns, not to mention his six receptions for 33 yards and another touchdown, NSU has a real difference maker in the backfield.

NSU had two quarterbacks throw passing touchdowns, Joey Dube-Garrett went 10-of-18 for 101 yards and a score while Ty Englehart went 6-for-11 for 45 yards and a score.

Defensively, Jake Adams led with 17 total tackles followed by Cooper Logan (8) and Elijah Jopp and Javonnee Szymanski (6 each). Landon Kelley recorded the only turnover of the game for the Wolves via an interception.

Up next, the Wolves travel to Southwest Minnesota State next Saturday for an NSIC matchup with the Mustangs, kickoff is set for 5PM.
