NEW YORK — The Mets could not keep up their momentum on Saturday afternoon.

After jumping out to a 2-1 lead, the Giants rattled off five unanswered runs off Zac Thornton, who gave up four home runs in his outing.

The Mets ultimately fell 9-5 despite a two-run home run from A.J. Ewing and three RBI from Brettt Baty.

The Mets will have an opportunity to grab the series win at 1:40 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at Citi Field.

After getting an extra few days of rest, Christian Scott will return to the mound for the Mets.

It will be Scott's 21st start of the season. He is 4-4 with a 3.80 ERA and 1.31 WHIP and 113 strikeouts in 94⅔ innings. The right-hander has not pitched since Aug. 28 when he allowed three earned runs on one hit and five walks in 5⅓ innings with two strikeouts.

Giants left-hander Cesar Perdomo will be making his first career start and second major league appearance on Sunday. The 24-year-old allowed one earned run on three hits and one walk with four strikeouts in four innings in his debut against the Pirates on Sept. 1.
