Austin Hill to drive No. 33 car for Richard Childress Racing in 2027

Austin Hill is finally NASCAR Cup Series bound. On Monday, Richard Childress Racing announced that Hill will drive the No. 33 car full-time during the 2027 Cup Series season. The Richard Childress Racing driver replaced Kyle Busch in the ride after his tragic death from health issues in late May.

Hill has been running the renumbered No. 33 car for Richard Childress Racing since Busch's death, while staying in the No. 21 car in the NASCAR O'Reilly Series. Now, instead of finding a new driver for the 2027 season, Richard Childress Racing is moving forward with Hill next to Austin Dillon.

It has been a difficult battle for Hill and Richard Childress Racing, as Busch's death rocked the organization and the sport. Now, Hill will be the full-time replacement for the two-time Cup Series champion. Over the rest of 2026, Hill and Richard Childress Racing will honor Busch while preparing for the 2027 campaign.
