Tennessee Titans vs. New York Giants: Behind Enemy Lines

The Tennessee Titans will face the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in Week 3. It will mark the Titans' first road game of the season and also give them another opportunity to get one in the win column.

Both the Titans and the Giants are in similar situations in 2026. Well, they were before the Giants lost Jaxson Dart for the season. Both teams have entirely new coaching staffs, and both teams have lots of new faces in the locker room. Both teams were optimistic about 2026 before it started, and now both teams are desperately trying to keep that hope alive.

Ahead of this competitive matchup, Titans Wire sat down with Dan Benton of Giants Wire to gain some insight into the next opponent.

Jameis Winston struggled against the Rams last week. What can we expect to see from him in his first start of 2026?

Benton : I think you'll see Jameis Winston being Jameis Winston with a greater emphasis on not turning the ball over, which is a non-negotiable with John Harbaugh and Matt Nagy. What I wouldn't do -- as so many have -- is overreact to how Winston looked on Monday night. He was thrust into a game unexpectedly early on and had to operate a game plan that had been designed for Jaxson Dart. That came on the heels of a summer in which he took no first-team reps with the other starters, so it wasn't exactly a recipe for success. With a full week under his belt and a game plan designed around his skill set, Winston should look more the part on Sunday afternoon, weather permitting.

Which skill player do you expect to step up this week? What specifically can we expect from this player?

This is going to be a Cam Skattebo game. Nagy already lamented his lack of use in Week 2, and given the early forecast, this game will be decided in the trenches and on the ground. I would expect a heavy dose of Skatt with Ricard leading the way up the middle, and then around the edges. He is sneaky fast and can get going laterally, which is something Najee Harris can't do. Skatt is also sure-handed and a good option out of the backfield, which will play to Winston's strength, with the downfield game likely impacted by rain and wind.

Brian Callahan and Dennard Robinson were both in Tennessee last year. What has their impact been like, and how will their presence affect the game this week?

Callahan seems like he's in an ideal role and made a lot of progress with Dart this offseason. It's a shame we can't see that play out over a full season. Wilson is always a defensive coordinator I've been impressed with, and that hasn't changed over two weeks, despite an ugly outing against Los Angeles . But it's hard to blame him considering he lost his father just days earlier. And while he says there are "no excuses," I think we can all recognize that his mind was likely elsewhere. He works well with the talent he has and builds game plans specific to players' strengths. However, he will be tested this week in the absence of Brian Burns , Paulson Adebo , and other key players banged up.

What's your biggest matchup concern against the Titans?

Jeffery Simmons vs. John Michael Schmitz . Easy. JMS has not developed the way the Giants have hoped, and he hasn't given the team a return on investment. He was dominated by Aaron Donald a week ago, and Simmons has the ability to take over games against inferior players. The Giants will have to scheme around that weakness or risk being dominated at the line of scrimmage in a game that will be decided there.

Given the early weather forecast, this game has a chance to be ugly. Heavy rains and gusty winds will make throwing the ball difficult, and kickoffs and field goals even more difficult. That's actually good news for the Giants, who will be able to ride running back Cam Skattebo until the wheels come off. So long as they can prevent Jeffery Simmons from wrecking the game, Jameis Winston & Co. will come out with a 16-7 win.
