The rumour Ben Shelton’s US Open rival Francis Tiafoe set him up with Trinity Rodman has already been addressed

Ben Shelton is set to meet Francis Tiafoe in the semifinal of the US Open to stand a chance at moving into his first career Grand Slam Final. His fellow American has also previously claimed to have played a pivotal part in setting up Shelton with his soccer superstar girlfriend, Trinity Rodman.

Rodman and Shelton have been a power couple ever since they became public about their relationship in March 2025.

Both are constant features at each other's games and often copy each other's celebrations as well. Rodman even went the extra mile to be at Shelton's quarterfinal win against Carlos Alcaraz.

But according to Francis Tiafoe, all of this would not have happened without him.

Tiafoe is friends with Shelton, which is why it will be exciting to see how the semifinal between the two plays out.

Last year, the 28-year-old claimed that he played an important part in setting the couple up.

"By the way, I don't think people realize, I was like, the one who [connected them] — if we're going to be real," Tiafoe said, also comparing himself to CEO of Utah Jazz Danny Ainge.

He was also a little shocked at how Shelton decided to reveal to the world about his relationship with Rodman, who is a star in the US.

"I'm happy for him man. I was shocked he went up though… The elevator photo out the gate and then you don't go and tag [Rodman] and let everybody know who it is," he said.

"You don't need to go tag. Everybody knows who Trinity Rodman is. [The photo] at the end of the carousel, sick. That was tough."

Shelton has now cleared the air, confirming Tiafoe had no role to play in the two meeting.

"Tiafoe had nothing to do with it. He's taking credit, 'Oh, yeah, I put them together. I was like Danny Ainge.' He's a liar. He's trying to make it about himself. It's not about him, but that's funny."

Rodman also spoke about Tiafoe's claims.

"I can assure you Frances was not the reason we met or got together," Rodman said on SportsCenter. "I don't know why he's taking credit for that. Me and Ben can both cut that out. It was a solely me and Ben thing."

Shelton and Tiafoe will face off in the semis, the fifth time the two players have met in their careers. Shelton has three wins over Tiafoe and will be looking to add to that in front of a packed Arthur Ashe Stadium.
