Vincent Kompany doesn’t close door on Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala for DFB-Pokal
Is Jamal Musiala going to play for FC Bayern on Wednesday?
Ahead of the DFB-Pokal match against VfL Osnabrück, Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany sounded optimistic that the team would get attacker Serge Gnabry back soon.
"Sometimes I also only get an update after the press conference. Serge Gnabry isn't in the squad, but Lennart Karl is back – he's had his first few minutes on the pitch, which is very good for us. As for Jamal Musiala, we're having daily discussions; we haven't had any today yet – then we'll make a decision. He's trained very well. It's a question of choosing the right moment; whether that's tomorrow, at the weekend or next week, I can't yet say," said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia ). "We need to discuss (when he will be back) with Serge; he might be there this weekend [against Schalke] – I expect he'll make his first appearance in the next ten days."
In the midst of giving that update on Gnabry, Kompany dropped a bit of a bombshell in saying that Musiala has not been officially ruled out yet. Is this gamesmanship or has Musiala made great progress in the last few days?
Bild (via @iMiaSanMia ) checked in to provide an update and seemed to blow by the chance for Musiala to play on Wednesday vs. VfL Osnabrück:
Jamal Musiala is making a good impression again in training. On Monday, he went into duels with full force, showed strong finishing, participated fully in the entire session, and looked very happy. Nevertheless, his comeback will not be rushed. It remains to be seen whether he will be back in the squad for Schalke on Saturday.
