LaMelo Ball began his Minnesota Timberwolves career in fine fashion by helping them beat the Miami Heat 131-106.

Anthony Edwards was the star of the show for the Wolves, but his combination play with Ball was a sight to behold in their first game together.

While his performance has earned a lot of praise, there has been some controversy too about a non-call from the officials that even LaMelo's own brother, Lonzo, called out.

LaMelo Ball responds to Lonzo's travel accusation during Timberwolves vs Heat

During the first quarter of the game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Miami Heat, Ball was accused of travelling by many fans.

The point guard used a screen from Rudy Gobert to shed his defender before shuffling back for a three-pointer from the right side of the court.

Although nothing was made of it in real time, replays showed that Ball had taken extra steps after picking up his dribble, which shocked fans and also the commentators, because the officials allowed it.

Even LaMelo's brother, Lonzo, took to X and accused him of a travel, but the new Wolves star was having none of that after the game.

Speaking to ESPN about his brother's tweet, he said: "He's hating. He's hating. See, I've got to give him a call right now. Because with the family, he knows what he's supposed to do: even if I'm wrong, I'm right.

"That's how it goes. I've got to teach that boy!"

LaMelo also defended his move and argued that it wasn't a travel. He said: "If you watch, I let the ball guide. If I let the ball guide and I'm not touching it, you can take as many steps as you want. It's not travel."

The game was won and Ball was fantastic, so he will not care whether that action should've been flagged or not. All that mattered was the win, and the Wolves got it.
