Texas A&M WR makes Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award List

Texas A&M's loaded wide receiver room is led by junior Mario Craver , who finished second on the team with 59 receptions for 917 yards and 4 touchdowns during his first season with the Aggies, and will now serve as redshirt junior quarterback Marcel Reed's No. 1 receiver this fall.

Combined with Ashton Bethel-Roman, former five-star prospect Terry Bussey, and Alabama transfer Isaiah Horton, Marcel Reed should, at the very least, match his 2025 production after passing for a career-high 3,169 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions last season.

Through 16 preseason practices, Reed has connected with every receiver mentioned, while freshman WR Aaron Gregory, who shined during his first action this spring, has made new coach Mike Elko and OC Holmon Wiggins' jobs much harder ahead of releasing the first official depth chart before the Aggies host Missouri State in just nine days.

A former blue-chip prospect who, in my humble opinion, should have been a five-star recruit based on his size, speed, and advanced route running and separation, the Georgia native is ready to contribute as a reserve option who could see his first action during the season opener, likely serving as Isaiah Horton's primary backup as the X receiver.

On Wednesday, Gregory was named to the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award Watch List, and while his usage this season is still up in the air, from a talent perspective, Gregory is simply too good to keep off the field and will provide elite depth at one of the most important positions.

During his high school career at Douglas County, Gregory reeled in 163 receptions for 2,930 yards (18.0 average) and 20 touchdowns.
