The Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Kristian Fulton had a rough first season with the team. He missed most of training camp while recovering from a knee cleanup procedure and lost the starting job. The 27-year-old Fulton suffered an ankle injury in Week 2, causing him to miss Weeks 3-5 and be a healthy scratch in Weeks 6-9 and 13-14. He finished with 16 tackles and six pass deflections across eight games, two starts, and 208 defensive snaps.

With Mansoor Delane and Nohl Williams expected to be the team's top two cornerbacks and L'Jarius Sneed back in Kansas City, Kristian Fulton is currently slotted as a third-stringer, which is a lot of money to pay someone making $10 million.

In an NFL.com article, Kevin Patra identified 22 players who could either be traded or released during roster cuts. For the Chiefs, he named Kristian Fulton , noting that Brett Veach would likely trade him for draft compensation rather than cut him outright. Patra also added that if a team needed cornerback help, it would inquire about Fulton, who was solid in his eight appearances last season.

"I don't think general manager Brett Veach will outright cut Fulton, who was solid in eight games last season, but if I was a team needing corner help, I'd inquire about a trade," Patra said.

Here's what a trading team would inherit contractually

Kristian Fulton enters the final year of his two-year, $20 million contract and is scheduled to earn a $9.75 million base salary, $5 million guaranteed, and $10 million in cash, while incurring a $13 million cap hit, per Over The Cap . A trading team would inherit the base salary and guaranteed money, but not the $250,000 workout bonus, essentially making it a one-year, $9.75 million deal with $5 million guaranteed.
