Don’t forget about Bradley Chubb

As the Buffalo Bills get set to visit the Houston Texans on Sunday, this will conclude one of the most eventful offseasons in recent memory. Coaches being fired, awkward press conferences, coaches being hired, free agency, the draft, and a new stadium set to open. But in my opinion there was one move made this off-season that is not being discussed enough.

When it comes to new faces in Buffalo this season, DJ Moore has understandably gotten plenty of attention. The team needed to make a bigger move at receiver, and sending a second round pick to the Bears addressed their biggest need. C.J. Gardner-Johnson has attracted plenty of headlines, and will look to get some revenge against one of his former clubs. But the most notable addition to the Bills might be the player that no one is talking about – Bradley Chubb.

The former first round pick signed a three-year deal worth $43.5 million with the Bills this off-season, making him the team's largest addition to the roster. Chubb was named a captain earlier this week, a testament to the leadership that he immediately brought to the Bills locker room. Maybe it is just me, but no one seems to be talking about Chubb as an important addition to the club.

In trying to understand why there has not been more chatter around Chubb, I can only imagine it is because of the fatigue that fans have had around the previous additions. A.J. Epenesa, Von Miller, and Joey Bosa (among others) have failed to live up to varying levels of expectations. Now Chubb, and immediate starter opposite of Gregory Rousseau, comes in with little expectations from fans. As I mentioned earlier, maybe I am just looking in the wrong places for news on Chubb.

Regardless of those expectations, I am excited to see what Chubb can bring to Jim Leonhard's defense. If Chubb can fill the void opposite of Rousseau — along with Michael Hoecht and T.J. Parker — the Bills defensive end group can make an impact early this season.
