Red Wings celebrate International League championship at ESL Ballpark

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Rochester Red Wings celebrated their historic championship run with fans Monday night at ESL Ballpark.

The Red Wings captured their first International League championship since 1997 last Thursday, defeating the Memphis Redbirds 3-2 to claim the title.

Rochester then advanced to the Triple-A National Championship Game on Saturday night, taking on the Oklahoma City Comets. The Wings fell just short of another title, losing 5-3 in extra innings.

But Monday night was all about celebrating the team's championship season and bringing the trophy home to Rochester.

Fans gathered at ESL Ballpark for a celebration featuring live music, food and drinks. Attendees also had the chance to take photos with the International League championship trophy and flag.

The title ended a nearly three-decade wait for the Red Wings, marking the franchise's first International League championship in 29 years.
