Brexton Busch Gives Command For Kyle Busch Classic
Brexton Busch delivered the command for the Kyle Busch Classic at the Las Vegas Bullring.
The Las Vegas Bullring was the site of the Kyle Busch Classic on Friday night to honor the late two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion. Prior to the on-track action, there was a special pre-race command.
Brexton Busch, Kyle and Samantha Busch's 11-year-old son, delivered the most famous words in motorsports prior to the start of the Kyle Busch Classic. Brexton competed in the Legends cars event in his green and orange No. 18 machine.
Kyle Busch, who passed away suddenly on May 21 after a case of pneumonia progressed into sepsis, was a native of Las Vegas. He cut his teeth racing at the Bullring in his early years and captured two track championships.
Brexton Busch Delivers Command For Kyle Busch Classic
Prior to rolling off fifth for the Legends race, Brexton Busch delivered the command for the Kyle Busch Classic. The 11-year-old also waved the green flag for the ARCA race at the Bullring. On X, Brexton wrote :
"Let's go racing at the Bullring!!!!! I start 5th in the upcoming Legend feature, tune in on @FloRacing !
Brexton Busch spun out at one point during the Legends race but ultimately recovered to finish the event. On Thursday, the young Busch finished runner-up in his bandolero car.
Busch told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he was fortunate to see the race honoring his late father come to fruition.
"It's really cool to see my dad's race come alive. I start fifth. Hopefully I can win it. It's going to be a fun one. "It's really cool to see how many people are here. I bet it's going to inspire a lot of people. The new repave is awesome," Brexton said .
Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas will be filled with many tributes to the late Kyle Busch. Kyle's older brother, Kurt, will serve as the honorary pace car driver to begin the 267-lap race.
Kyle Larson, who rolls off sixth for Sunday's race, is piloting a Kyle Busch-inspired yellow and blue paint scheme recognizing Busch's early NASCAR Cup days driving the No. 5 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports.
Kurt Busch Speaks on Kyle Busch Classic, Memorial Rock
Just outside the Las Vegas Bullring stands a memorial rock for Kyle Busch, something the track recently put on display to honor the late champion. Older brother Kurt took to X with a family photo in front of the display and wrote :
"Thank you race fans for coming out and supporting the Kyle Busch Classic at the bullring. Last night was full of emotions and memories of years past. The future looks bright!
Kyle Busch won seven NASCAR national touring series events at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, including the 2009 Cup Series race.
