Report: New York Giants agree to $22M extension with OL Jon Runyan

The New York Giants continued their fall version of spring cleaning as it pertains to the salary cap, reportedly agreeing to a contract extension with veteran guard Jon Runyan.

Almost immediately after agreeing to an extension with backup quarterback Jameis Winston , the Giants elected to lock up one of their starters along the offensive line just before the start of the season.

The deal, first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, is a two-year extension worth $22 million. It also includes $21.5 million guaranteed for the 29-year-old.

Runyan has spent the last two seasons working as a starter for the Giants as the team's starting left guard. According to Pro Football Focus, Runyan allowed 31 total pressures, including two sacks, on 654 pass-blocking snaps during the 2025 season.

Runyan will reprise his role as the starter sandwiched between left tackle Andrew Thomas and the polarizing John Michael Schmitz at center.

The Giants offensive line will need to protect its young quarterback in Jaxson Dart, who enters his second season in the NFL. Though Runyan may not provide All-Pro level play, the continuity should help the Giants as they enter an interesting campaign under a new regime.
