SEC power rankings shift after conference's dominant Week 1

The SEC is off to a dominant start in Week 1 of the 2026 college football season. Entering the Ole Miss -Louisville game, the SEC is a perfect 15-0 and the conference's average margin of victory is over 39 points per game.

The SEC did not get any scares against non-Power Four opponents in Week 1. The Georgia Bulldogs and the rest of the SEC teams that played non-Power Four foes all won by 17 points or more.

The LSU Tigers and Auburn Tigers both notched strong nonconference wins to start the season. LSU dominated Clemson 51-10 in coach Lane Kiffin's debut. The Tigers looked like SEC championship contenders and surged up a few spots to No. 3 in our power rankings.

Auburn earned a narrow win over the Baylor Bears , but did not have an impressive offensive performance. Still, Auburn is more proven than most of the conference for beating a Power Four opponent.
