Will the Badgers cover the hefty spread vs. Notre Dame?

Can the Badgers be competitive against Notre Dame?

· 283 words

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NCAA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Wisconsin fans and fans across the country.

The Wisconsin Badgers are taking on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this weekend, getting a top-five team in primetime as they look to record one of the biggest upsets in recent program history.

Wisconsin, sporting a new-look team this season, has over 40 new players, and they'll face a Fighting Irish squad ranked No. 4 in the nation with Heisman contender C.J. Carr at the helm. It'll also be a reunion for head coach Luke Fickell, who will see several of his former staffers on the opposing sidelines. That includes head coach Marcus Freeman, offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock, wide receivers coach Mike Brown, and quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli.

Currently, not many have hope for the Badgers, who are a significant 20.5-point underdog against Notre Dame. Will they find a way to cover the hefty spread?

DraftKings Sportsbook has over 66 percent of bettors favoring Notre Dame to cover the near-three-touchdown spread, with Wisconsin projected to score under two touchdowns in the game.

Now, Week 1 can certainly provide some fireworks, as both teams get acclimated to the start of the season. Notre Dame will be without star running backs Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price in the backfield, while Wisconsin has Colton Joseph leading the way at quarterback.

So, it's unclear how both sides will look on Sunday evening. But the Badgers are major underdogs heading into the weekend.

In our weekly Reacts poll, let us know above if you believe Wisconsin will cover the 20.5-point spread and share your thoughts in the comments below!
