Conor McGregor hails Katie Taylor with social media spree

Conor McGregor 's unwavering admiration for Katie Taylor was on full display on social media.

On Saturday, September 5, Taylor rolled back the years and brought the curtain down on a legendary career. A fairytale ending is what all fighters wish for, and Taylor was given that in abundance. The Irishwoman handed France's own Flora Pili her first professional loss in a sold-out Croke Park, in her home country. Alongside that, the 40-year-old delivered a near-flawless display in front of a historic crowd of 83,000, breaking the attendance record for an individual female sporting event.

Amid their success in combat sports, Katie Taylor and Conor McGregor have a long history of support for one another. Continuing that tradition, McGregor hailed Taylor after she retired from boxing—even asking her to reconsider her retirement.

"Katie Taylor, let's do ONE MORE FOR THE MAC," McGregor said on X. "Well done, champ, Katie Taylor!"

The praise didn't end there. Conor McGregor posted a direct callback to a compliment Katie Taylor had given him years prior, likening him to the Muhammad Ali of the UFC .

Returning the favor, McGregor grouped the three of them in a post on X as boxing and mixed martial arts icons.

'The Notorious' famously went to support Katie Taylor during her WBA and IBF lightweight world titles defense against Cindy Serrano at the TD Garden in Boston.

Remembering that time, alongside the caption, " Real Love, " McGregor called back to his support of Taylor in 2018.

Continuing in his Muhammad Ali and Katie Taylor admiration, McGregor shared a picture of the two, 54-years apart, in the very same arena.

The post reminisced about Ali's 11th-round knockout of Alvin Lewis and showed an eerily similar picture side by side with Taylor's win on Saturday; both throwing right hands with grimaces on their faces.
