Penta Vows to Become World Champ After Loss to Reigns

After falling short in his World Heavyweight Championship match against Roman Reigns during Monday night's episode of Raw in Mexico City, Penta insisted that fans have not seen the last of him in the WWE world title mix.

In a post-show promo posted on WWE's social media accounts, Penta said, "One day I will become a world heavyweight champion. I promise you."

Penta also expressed pride in his performance on Monday night, while giving Reigns his proverbial flowers, saying of The Tribal Chief, "I know now why he is one of the best in the world."

After winning a tournament to earn a world title match against Reigns, Penta finally got his shot Monday night on the first episode of Raw to take place in his home country of Mexico since 2011.

The crowd was firmly behind Penta, and he had The OTC on the ropes on numerous occasions. Reigns ultimately prevailed, but Penta proved he belonged in the ring with WWE's top dog.

It is apparent that WWE has a hugely popular star on its hands with Penta, so the challenge for the company now is to follow up on his performance in an effective way.

A world title win doesn't appear to be in his immediate future, but perhaps having him participate in and win the Money in the Bank ladder match would be the best way to keep him on the world title periphery, while making it clear that he is a champion in waiting.

Despite participating in WWE's live event loop in South America last week, Seth Rollins was reportedly never scheduled for Monday night's episode of Raw in Mexico.

According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t Geno Mrosko of Cageside Seats), no backstage sources indicated that a Rollins appearance on Raw was in the cards, and it isn't yet clear what Rollins will do when he returns to WWE programming.

Most fans last saw Rollins at SummerSlam last month when he lost to Reigns in a World Heavyweight Championship match, which main evented Night 2.

Rollins has not been featured on any of WWE's weekly programming since then, and there hasn't been much mention of him either.

The Visionary finally resurfaced last week at a WWE house show in Quito, Ecuador, teaming with LA Knight and Solo Sikoa to beat The Usos and Jacob Fatu in a six-man tag team match.

Rollins worked multiple untelevised live events in South America, leading many to assume his televised return was imminent.

While that may ultimately prove to be true, it did not happen on Monday's episode of Raw, which was largely focused on Penta challenging Reigns for the world heavyweight title.

With Money in the Bank on the horizon next month, it could make sense for Rollins to return in the coming weeks and take part in a Money in the Bank qualifier given that he is a two-time Money in the Bank ladder match winner, including last year.

Reported Reason for Vaquer's Women's World Title Win

WWE surprised many on Saturday night when Stephanie Vaquer beat Liv Morgan for the Women's World Championship at a live event.

It turns out the reasoning behind the decision was quite simple, as WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t Mrosko ) reported that WWE wanted to reward Vaquer with a big moment in her home country of Chile.

One night before the title change, it started to become apparent that it was possible since WWE was making a big deal of it on social media.

Most notably, Raw general manager Adam Pearce announced that Becky Lynch would serve as the special guest referee for the title match between Vaquer and Morgan in Chile.

Lynch ended up playing a huge role in the result, as she refused to count the three for Morgan after Liv attempted to cheat to win. That set the stage for Vaquer's massive victory in front of her home fans.

On Monday night's episode of Raw, WWE announced that those who sign up for the Club WWE subscription service will be able to watch the Vaquer vs. Morgan match in its entirety, giving fans extra incentive to sign up.

That match also set the stage for an entertaining opening segment and match on Raw in Mexico with Vaquer and new AAA mega champion El Grande Americano facing Morgan and Dominik Mysterio in a mixed tag team match.
