Asian Para Games 2026 full schedule from October 16 to 24: Dates, events and opening ceremony details

The fifth edition of the Asian Para Games will be held in Aichi-Nagoya between October 18 and 24, with 45 nations competing across 19 disciplines at the event. However, some events have already started on Friday, two days before the opening ceremony on October 18th.The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) has cleared 168 athletes for the upcoming 5th Asian Para Games 2026, to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. A total contingent of 281 members has been cleared, comprising 168 athletes, 98 team officials/supporting staff and 15 contingent staff. The contingent size is significantly smaller in this edition when compared to the previous edition held in Hangzhou, China, in 2023, where India fielded 303 athletes. The sharp drop in the contingent size is owing to the absence of disciplines such as Blind Chess, Para-Rowing and Para-Canoeing in which India had fielded athletes, as well as the strict quota restrictions by the Organising Committee in many sporting disciplines, news agency ANI reported.Of the 168 athletes, 112 are male, and 56 are female, who will compete across 11 disciplines.Over seven days of competition, around 3,000 athletes will compete across 18 sports at venues across Aichi-Nagoya and neighbouring cities in Japan.Held three years after Hangzhou 2022, the fifth edition of the Games will be staged under the motto "Imagine One Heart", celebrating unity, passion and the power of sport to bring people together. As we count down to the Opening Ceremony, here's the full schedule for Aichi-Nagoya 2026:Friday October 16Blind FootballPara BadmintonPara Table TennisWheelchair BasketballSaturday, October 17Blind FootballBocciaGoalballPara BadmintonPara Table TennisWheelchair BasketballSunday October 18Opening CeremonyMonday, October 19Blind FootballBocciaGoalballPara ArcheryPara AthleticsPara BadmintonPara CyclingPara JudoPara PowerliftingPara SwimmingPara Table TennisPara TaekwondoShooting Para SportSitting VolleyballWheelchair BasketballWheelchair FencingWheelchair RugbyWheelchair TennisTuesday, October 20Blind FootballBocciaGoalballPara ArcheryPara Athletics (Sprints, Middle Distance, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Discus Throw, Javelin Throw, Club Throw)Para BadmintonPara CyclingPara JudoPara PowerliftingPara Swimming (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Individual Medley)Para Table TennisPara TaekwondoShooting Para Sport (Rifle, Pistol)Sitting VolleyballWheelchair BasketballWheelchair FencingWheelchair RugbyWheelchair TennisWednesday, October 21Blind FootballBocciaGoalballPara ArcheryPara Athletics (Sprints, Middle Distance, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Discus Throw, Javelin Throw, Club Throw)Para BadmintonPara Cycling (Road)Para JudoPara PowerliftingPara Swimming (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Individual Medley)Para Table TennisPara TaekwondoSitting VolleyballWheelchair BasketballWheelchair FencingWheelchair RugbyWheelchair TennisThursday, October 22BocciaGoalballPara ArcheryPara Athletics (Sprints, Middle Distance, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Discus Throw, Javelin Throw, Club Throw)Para BadmintonPara Cycling (Road)Para PowerliftingPara Swimming (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Individual Medley0Para Table TennisShooting Para Sport (Rifle, Pistol)Sitting VolleyballWheelchair BasketballWheelchair FencingWheelchair RugbyWheelchair TennisFriday, October 23Blind FootballBocciaGoalballPara ArcheryPara Athletics (Sprints, Middle Distance, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Discus Throw, Javelin Throw, Club Throw)Para BadmintonPara CyclingPara PowerliftingPara SwimmingPara Table TennisShooting Para Sport (Rifle, Pistol)Sitting VolleyballWheelchair BasketballWheelchair FencingWheelchair RugbyWheelchair TennisSaturday, October 24BocciaClosing CeremonyPara ArcheryPara PowerliftingWheelchair FencingStay updated with the latest Asian Games 2026 news, check the Asian Games medal tally and complete Asian Games schedule.Get the latest Sports News and Live updates.
