Thomas had been quiet the last two games as defenses focused on the All-Big 12 receiver.

Thomas set up two key touchdown drives late in the second half, delivering a 51-yard catch-and-spin move to set up Trent Walker's 2-yard touchdown catch.

After Oklahoma State scored late in the third quarter, the Cougars were faced with fourth-and-2 at the Cowboys 21. Weigman found Thomas in back right corner of the end zone for a 28-17 lead.

Thomas finished with seven catches for 126 yards as UH beat a ranked opponent at home for the first time since a 24-19 win over No. 16 Kansas State in 2024.

Oklahoma State (4-2, 2-1 Big 12) managed only a field goal in the first half before Ayo Adeyi scored on a 13-yard run and Drew Mestemaker hit Wyatt Young for a 2-yard TD.

Each time the Cowboys scored, UH answered right back.

After holding the Cowboys to a field goal on their opening drive, Patrick Overmyer hauled in a 2-yard touchdown, his fifth in the last two games, and Thomas added a 7-yard TD catch for a 14-3 halftime lead.

To begin the second half, Oklahoma State marched down the field 75 yards, capped by Adeyi's run to the right side. The drive was aided by a fumble recovery by left tackle Shaun Torgeson.

Will James had an interception and had three pass breakups.

UH's defense played without three starters - nose guard De'Marion Thomas, linebacker Jaden Yates and cornerback Jalen Mayo.
