Clippers Have Multiple Potential Trade Candidates to Monitor This Season

The Clippers have multiple veterans who could be trade candidates in February.

· 424 words

The Los Angeles Clippers have had a tough start to their season. They have lost seven games in a row after beating the Sacramento Kings on opening night, and because of injuries, the season has spiraled downhill for them very fast.

Los Angeles has been without forward Brandon Ingram and guards Bradley Beal and Jordan Miller to start the season. They were also without Max Strus to start the year, but he recently came back from injury and has stepped in quickly.

The injuries have caused the Clippers to have some chemistry issues, as many of their young players have had the chance to get increased roles early in the season. Players like rookie guard Keaton Wagler have had a lot of reps so far this season, and with the direction they're heading in, the Clippers could want to see more out of those young pieces.

Even though Los Angeles has struggled as a team, they have individual players that can help out other teams contending for a championship, making them trade candidates come the deadline in February.

Players like Rui Hachimura, Brook Lopez , Darius Garland, and Kris Dunn have all had their ups and downs this season, but they're established veterans who can surely help winning teams at the moment.

The first player who could draw interest from other teams is center Brook Lopez. Lopez has averaged 13.5 points per game and 5.1 rebounds, and he's had games where he's arguably been the Clippers' best offensive weapon.

He's also known to be one of the better shooting big men in the NBA, and so far, he's shot 42.3 percent from three-point range, making him one of the top shooters on the team.

Another player that the Clippers could consider dealing is guard Kris Dunn. Like Lopez, Dunn has had big individual games for Los Angeles this season, and he's known to be a solid two-way guard that a contending team could use off the bench.

So far this season, Kris Dunn is averaging 8.5 points per game, and defensively, he's averaging 2.8 steals. He's capable of having offensive outbursts as well. Against the Oklahoma City Thunder, he led the way with 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field.

Los Angeles still has a chance to turn things around this season as players slowly start to come back from injury, but if the losing persists, the Clippers may have to move off some veterans because of the lack of future draft picks and the value some of their players have right now.
