Luck has not been on the Los Angeles Chargers ' side in recent years, nor has the injury bug. In Week 1, the Chargers inexplicably lost to the Arizona Cardinals . During Week 2, the team was handed unfortunate injury news. David Njoku was carted off the field because of a knee injury.

The tight end is questionable to return. Furthermore, Derwin James suffered a hand injury that forced him out of action in the matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders .

Njoku has long been considered one of the best tight ends in football, and he signed with the Chargers in the offseason to pair with up-and-comer Orande Gadsden and blocking specialist Charlie Kolar . The long-time Cleveland Browns star had 384 receptions for 4,062 yards during the first nine seasons of his career. He even earned a Pro Bowl nod back in 2023.

While Njoku is on the older side, he proved he has plenty left in the tank when he went for 58 yards and five catches during his first game with the Chargers. However, prior to suffering an injury, Njoku bobbled a pass from Justin Herbert that resulted in an interception.

It is unclear how severe Njoku's injury is, but the Chargers are no strangers to losing key players for long durations of time. If the team is to reach their potential, though, they will eventually need a good string of injury health.
