Ollie Millroy’s wife Fern Millroy gives graphic update on British racing driver from hospital after his Ferrari’s horror crash during China GT race

British racing driver Ollie Millroy remains in hospital in Shanghai after suffering serious injuries in a horror crash during a China GT event. His wife, Fern Millroy, has now revealed the extent of his injuries following surgery.Fern said the operation went well but revealed that Ollie still needs high-flow oxygen as his lung recovers. She also admitted she “can’t believe” he survived the terrifying incident, while praising fellow driver Loek Hartog for helping pull him from the burning Ferrari.Fern Millroy reveals Ollie Millroy’s injuries after terrifying fireball crashOllie Millroy was involved in a horrific accident at the Shanghai International Circuit during a China GT race. His Ferrari was hit after two other cars collided and spun across the track.The impact caused Ollie’s car to instantly burst into flames. He became trapped inside the Ferrari as the vehicle was engulfed by fire.Loek Hartog, who was also competing in the event, immediately rushed to help. New footage shows the 23-year-old driver desperately searching through the remains of the Ferrari to free Millroy.Ollie later underwent surgery at a hospital in Shanghai.His wife Fern has remained by his side throughout the ordeal. She provided a detailed update on his condition after the operation.She wrote on her Instagram stories, “Surgery went well yesterday, it took several hours, main work being his right hand. He now has metal along the entirety of his clavicle right side, metal inside his right hand, six broken ribs supported with a compression wrap and on high flow oxygen whilst his lung recovers.“Tried to come off the oxygen but his O2 level was just too low. He is in great care at this fantastic hospital in Shanghai and we can’t thank the staff here enough. More X Rays and CT tomorrow morning”, she continued.Fern also highlighted the crucial role played by Hartog. She added, “I still can’t believe he’s alive, purely down to our real life superhero Loek Hartog.”Loek Hartog has also spoken about the support surrounding the incident. He thanked people for their messages before travelling back home.He wrote, “Overwhelmed by the support from everyone over the past two days. I feel incredibly lucky to be part of a racing community that looks after each other the way this one does.”He also thanked everyone for all the messages and support that fans sent to Ollie, his wife and family, and also to him and his family. He revealed that he’s travelling back home now and can’t wait to be there. He also mentioned that he’s feeling good for now, but there have naturally been a lot of thoughts running through his head over the past few days.Notably, Fern and Ollie have been married since 2021 and have three young children.
