Ohio is filled with blue-chip talent in the 2027 cycle

There are 17 blue-chip prospects in the state of Ohio in the 2027 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking , a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. It's the second cycle in a row that the state totes more than 15.

The Buckeye State remains among the best in the Midwest when it comes to consistently producing high school stars and college prospects. This cycle, there's droves of talent on the offensive line and in the secondary.

All 17 of the four-stars are committed and have been for some time. Naturally, a majority of the best in the state are headed for the Big Ten. Rivals breaks down the top 10 2027 prospects in Ohio and where they're pledged, as of Sept. 21.

Rivals Industry Ranking: No. 19 NATL. (No. 4 WR) School: Wayne

Scouting Summary: "Speedy playmaker who is highly dangerous after the catch. Measured in at around 5-foot-11, 190 pounds prior to his senior season. Steadily gained mass and filled out his frame, with over 20 pounds of weight gained from his sophomore to junior years. Has elite top-end speed as the top sprinter in the state of Ohio. Has personal best times of 10.35 seconds and 20.79 seconds in the 100 and 200 meters respectively. Won state titles in both events as a junior. Also shows that top-end speed in the combine setting. Identified as a top wide receiver prospect early in the cycle. Shows flashes of that speed on Friday nights. Has the ability to take the top off of defenses with a top gear that can separate against cornerbacks on vertical routes. Does a nice job working back to the quarterback on broken plays. Dangerous with the ball in his hands and a threat to score every time he touches the ball.

…Combination of speed and filled out frame makes him tough for defenders to bring down. Dangerous in the quick game adds value as a ball carrier. Doubles as a strong return man, capable of taking it to the house. Finished his junior season with 73 catches for 1,009 yards and 10 touchdowns. Saw his efficiency dip a bit (13.8 yards per catch). Does not always play to his timed speed, especially in neutral settings. Ball skills register as solid to good and can be improved. Projects as a multi-faceted playmaker who can take advantage of manufactured touches at the college level with the upside to grow into a more complete receiver with continued development."

Rivals Industry Ranking: No. 55 NATL. (No. 6 IOL) School: Liberty Center

Scouting Summary: "Elite athlete along the offensive line who looks like one of the best movers among the 2027 interior offensive line prospects. Listed at around 6-foot-5, 270 pounds. Can absolutely move at his size. Excellent when working as a puller and moving to the second level. Has the speed to reach cornerbacks when blocking on screen passes to the outside. A weapon in the run game with his ability to work to the second level. Has quality pop in his hands and works to finish blocks. Also flashes outstanding reactive quickness in pass protection, easily mirroring pass rushers with his explosive lateral agility.

…Flashes his athleticism as a defensive lineman, as well. Participates in the shot put (43-3 feet) and discus (142 feet) in track and field. Will need to continue adding mass to his frame, but has the upside to be one of the top interior offensive linemen in the cycle with the versatility to play any of the five spots on the front."

Rivals Industry Ranking: No. 93 NATL. (No. 12 CB) School: Euclid

Telfair on his commitment: "Coach Terry is great. He's straightforward with everything and really knows what he's doing," he told BWI . He also added, "I got a good relationship with Coach Smith and he has a good plan for me. The relationship I have with Coach Campbell is strong, too. He actually reminds me of my high school coach. So, that's a big part of it, too."

Rivals Industry Ranking: No. 100 NATL. (No. 14 CB) School: Anderson

Alston on his commitment: "As soon as I walked through the building. The fans, all the commits and the players took me in as a family," he told Rivals . "Also, life after football with Notre Dame too is very important. I feel like they have a very successful program to make you successful later in life even after football. I feel like that was really good about Notre Dame."

Rivals Industry Ranking: No. 102 NATL. (No. 15 CB) School: Princeton

Scouting Summary: "Athletic two-way playmaker with high level instincts that project well as a defensive back. Measured at around 5-foot-10, 165 pounds prior to his senior season. Has good length for his size, with arms that measure 31.5 inches. Tests as a plus athlete in the combine setting with some of the best vertical jump numbers in the cycle. Has good top end speed in the combine setting along with showing the ability to crack 11.0 seconds in the 100 meters on the track. Operates as a dual threat quarterback and safety for his high school team. Shows range and instincts in coverage. Jumps passes and has outstanding play speed when taking interceptions the other way. Has fared well as a corner in the camp setting. Shows quick feet and is able to react and flip his hips off the line of scrimmage. Has the long speed to stay in-phase on vertical routes.

…Does a nice job turning to locate the football. Also an active and willing run defender. Tallied 40 tackles, three interceptions (two pick sixes) along with 2,241 yards and 30 touchdowns on offense as a junior. A bit undersized for the position and will need to continue adding mass to his frame while also honing his technique. Has intriguing upside given his level of skill despite the lack of experience working as a pure corner. Has the ability to be an impact player at multiple spots in the secondary with the upside to develop into a NFL Draft pick."

Karhoff on Virginia Tech: "I love Coach Ty Howle," he previously told Rivals . "He's one of the best tight end coaches in the country. He develops tight ends into the NFL every year. I love Coach Franklin. I love the people there, and I have great relationships with them."

Feister on his commitment: "When you know you know," Feister told Rivals' Steve Wiltfong . "Oregon just feels like home. I've felt very strong with them from the beginning and nothing ever changed. My favorite things are the culture, the common goals among the players and the way the coaching staff takes care of the guys."

Rivals Industry Ranking: No. 212 NATL. (No. 6 ATH) School: Villa Angela-St. Joseph

Scouting Summary: "White is a unique jumbo athlete. This is a prospect who has outstanding size and athleticism. Going into his junior season he was around 6'6, 250 pounds and had a really positive junior year. He plays on both sides of the ball, could project as a tight end or edge/defensive end at the next level. And I think has high end upside at both positions. He can really run and create mismatches as a tight end and has some eye-popping flash plays as a pass-rusher on Friday night. There are multiple pathways to success with White, and we view him as one of the top jumbo athletes in the cycle."

Rivals Industry Ranking: No. 225 NATL. (No. 17 IOL) School: Tri-Village

Black on his commitment: "Kentucky has stood out to me throughout this whole process," Black told Rivals' Steve Wiltfong . "They did a great job recruiting me as well as my family. Coach Stein built some of the most productive offenses in college football as offensive coordinator. (Coach Leftwich), they're both young recruiters with energy and that sticks out to me. Coach Leftwich has had success on the offensive line in his past jobs and continues to build a great relationship with me."

Rivals Industry Ranking: No. 249 NATL. (No. 20 OT) School: Riverside

Scouting Summary: "Played his junior season at around 235 pounds. Filled in his frame to 265+ pounds during the off-season of his junior year. Bends very well. Can leverage despite his height because of his flexibility. Long limbed. Has nimble feet in pass pro. Was able to be effective in the run game despite his lighter weight. We anticipate him being more dominant in moving people with the added weight and strength. Has added the weight healthily and has taken to the weight room. May be more of a year two guy in college, but has great upside and started moving towards that ceiling at an accelerated rate going into his senior year."
