Falcons game-day roster: Atlanta elevates two players vs. Bucs
Falcons vs. Bucs: Khalil Herbert, Brian Asamoah join Week 8 roster
The Atlanta Falcons are set to play their eighth game of the season this afternoon against the division-rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers . It will be the team's third division matchup of the season after losing to the Carolina Panthers in Week 2 and defeating the New Orleans Saints in Week 4.
The Falcons haven't made a roster move since last Saturday, and perhaps they feel good about the state of the team after their upset win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7. It's hard to blame them, as almost nobody expected Atlanta to defeat the previously undefeated 49ers.
In fact, the Falcons even elevated the same two practice squad players that they did last week. Running back Khalil Herbert and linebacker Brian Asamoah will join the team's 53-man roster for Sunday's game in Tampa.
Herbert, the former Chicago Bears standout, will replace injured Brian Robinson Jr. at running back for the second game in a row. Robinson, who was initially listed as questionable for Week 8, has officially ruled out by the team.
The Falcons also ruled out star linebacker Divine Deablo for Sunday's game, which explains why they elevated Asamoah. With Deablo out, the team will rely on two rookie linebackers - Kendal Daniels and Harold Perkins Jr. - to start against the Buccaneers.
