‘Beat by the team he built’ – Fans have no mercy for Lane Kiffin after LSU’s clutch loss to Ole Miss

The No. 8-ranked Ole Miss Rebels picked up a 32-24 win over the LSU Tigers in LSU head coach Lane Kiffin's first game back in Oxford since leaving the program.

Kiffin led the Rebels from 2020 to 2025, becoming a fan-favorite coach for consistently leading the program to success despite never being a premier recruiting destination.

Kiffin left the Rebels mid-season for the Tigers in November 2025 after a messy split. His first visit back to Oxford, ending in a loss, has allowed the Rebels' fanbase to demolish their former beloved coach.

Fans are going off on Lane Kiffin after LSU loses to Ole Miss

The Rebels picking up this win was a cathartic moment for their fans and neutral CFB fans who didn't appreciate how Kiffin abandoned the program for a flashier job at LSU.

"Lane Kiffin got beat by the team that he built and by the QB he recruited, and that wouldn't go to LSU with him," is what former NFL player Robert Griffin III had to say.

"Lane Kiffin needed Ole Miss. Ole Miss didn't need Lane Kiffin," said one fan .

"The fact Ole Miss isn't storming the field is soft. I want to see Lane Kiffin get tackled by a Sophomore," said another fan .

"Imagine what a good coach like Lane Kiffin could do at a school with resources like Ole Miss," said a fan joking about Kiffin leaving Ole Miss for those exact reasons and still losing to them.

"Lane Kiffin lost to the program he said couldn't get good players, to the quarterback that refused to follow him, in the stadium he said wasn't big enough. Tough," said another fan .

"All I have to say. Lane Kiffin left a great program, roster, and fan base to go chase NFL players in Louisiana. —– clown. Couldn't be happier for Golding and Ole Miss," said one fan .

Ole Miss jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the game, but Kiffin's Tigers fought back to tie the game at 24-24 in the second half, although the Rebels would retake a 32-24 lead.

Unfortunately, the Tigers threw an INT in the end zone with less than a minute to go to seal their loss.

Lane Kiffin's LSU Tigers bet yet to pay off

Kiffin left Ole Miss for LSU to chase championships in a college where the barometer for success is a title and not how many 10-win seasons one can earn over their career.

After leaving Ole Miss midseason, the team promoted DC Pete Golding to HC, who then led them on a deep postseason run. Now, he has beaten his former HC, Kiffin, in their first major clash.

The Rebels looked like the better team in the win as a more organised unit, whereas the Tigers are clearly hoping that their top-recruited talent can shine through in close games.

Unfortunately, structure won over flash, and Kiffin will have to wait for a while before getting the chance for a win as LSU coach in the 'Magnolia Bowl.'
