USF forward's free throw form goes viral for looking like a shot put toss
Fans couldn't believe the free throw form from South Florida forward Kendall Puryear.
Kendall Puryear played her first game for South Florida women's hoops on Monday, with the Bulls blowing out Furman 80-54, and despite a great game from her (12 points, nine boards, four dimes and three steals), all everyone wants to talk about is her free throw form.
The Purdue transfer is a career 57 percent free-throw shooter, so maybe she was trying something different. But as fans noted, her form looks like a shot-put throw from her shoulder, which would make sense -- per her Purdue bio, she's a shot put thrower who was ranked No. 1 in Missouri, where she's from.
She missed both of her free throws on Monday and went very viral for her form.
There might be more to this story as the season goes on -- maybe she's trying something new, perhaps she's in the middle of working on her mechanics... we'll see if there's improvement from the 6-foot-3 forward.
