Bold predictions in NFL Week 7: Jahmyr Gibbs, Ja’Marr Chase & more
Bold predictions for 3 of the league's biggest stars in Week 7.
Every NFL Sunday produces a number that makes you check whether the television graphic is broken. Sometimes it is. Sometimes a great player has spent three hours making the production crew double-check its work.
Week 7 offers a few chances to get ahead of that confusion, with sound football reasons behind the absurd numbers. Let's put numbers on it and make some predictions.
Jahmyr Gibbs reaches 100 rushing yards and 100 receiving yards against the Packers
Detroit can keep Gibbs's handoffs coming while crossers, double moves and wider alignments test coverage assignments against Jonathan Gannon's shifting fronts. Gibbs averages 21 carries and 100.8 rushing yards per game. His first three games included 15 slot or wide alignments, up from three in the same span last season.
Green Bay allows just 34 receiving yards per game to backs, and Gibbs's receiving high is 65. Jared Goff can attack farther downfield and let Gibbs create after the catch while preserving his rushing workload. The carries stay; the routes do the extra damage.
Ja'Marr Chase catches 3 touchdown passes against the Ravens
Baltimore allows just 3.8 yards per carry, giving Joe Burrow reasons to finish drives through the air. Moving Chase across formations can create opportunities, while Tee Higgins and the tight ends keep defenders occupied elsewhere. Burrow threw four touchdowns to four receivers against Miami before Cincinnati's bye, including Chase's 45-yard score.
This time, Chase gets greedy. He already caught three touchdown passes against the Ravens in 2024. Give him one strike from distance, then let his release and Burrow's placement add two more near the goal line.
Derek Stingley Jr. intercepts 2 passes against the Giants
Malik Nabers's 42 targets over the Giants' last three games give Stingley a clear tendency to study as J.J. McCarthy makes his first Giants start. Stingley needn't shadow Nabers; he can attack when those routes enter his coverage, and pressure rushes the throw.
McCarthy has 13 interceptions in 12 career appearances, while Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter have combined for 10.5 sacks this season. Stingley has no picks this year, but he took two from Miami in December 2024. One hurried throw, and another forced attempt can make the new quarterback's introduction considerably less pleasant.
