Kelani Jordan beat Wren Sinclair at Halloween Havoc on Saturday night to retain the NXT Women's Championship.

After years of trying, Jordan finally became NXT women's champion for the first time at Heatwave in August when she beat Sinclair's close friend, Kendal Grey.

A couple of weeks later, Sinclair attacked Jordan in an effort to get some revenge on Grey's behalf since Grey suffered an injury during her loss to Kelani.

While assaulting Jordan, Sinclair accidentally hit a referee in the face, which led to NXT general manager Robert Stone suspending Wren indefinitely.

During Sinclair's absence, Jordan had a successful title defense against Jaida Parker, and she suggested that no woman in the NXT locker room was capable of taking the NXT Women's Championship from her.

In order to determine her next challenger, Stone booked a 20-woman battle royal for the Oct. 6 episode of NXT with the winner going on to face Jordan for the title.

Shockingly, AAA luchadora Lady Shani appeared to win the battle royal by last eliminating Kali Armstrong.

However, when Shani removed her mask, it turned out that Sinclair was impersonating her, and she was the victor despite technically still being suspended.

Even though the legality of her win was disputed, Stone decided to uphold it and name Sinclair the No. 1 contender.

Sinclair had the chance to avenge Grey and become NXT women's champion for the first time on Saturday, but Jordan played spoiler and continued her reign in the process.
